WENATCHEE – The Wenatchee Valley Senior Activity Center has lowered the price of its lunch program to $5 to increase awareness of the program and community engagement, according to a Tuesday press release from the senior center.

Dave Tosch, the senior center’s executive director, explained the motivation behind the decision in the release.

“One of our long-standing commitments at the senior center is to provide an affordable, well-balanced lunch to our senior community,” he said. “There are many seniors in our community on fixed incomes who are at risk of food insecurity. We want to make sure that everyone, regardless of age or income, has access to a hot meal four days a week.”

The focus of the lunch program, according to the senior center, is to provide a healthy, low-cost meal and an opportunity for seniors to socialize. Additionally, while the senior center itself has an annual membership fee, the lunch program is open to members of the public of any age.

According to the release, the lunch program operates Tuesday through Friday and lunch is served at noon in their social hall at 1312 Maple Street in Wenatchee. To control costs, the center requires that participants RSVP at least one business day in advance.
