PESHASTIN — Drivers planning to use the interchange at US Highway 2/97 next week should plan for delays while the bridge at the Don Senn Memorial/Big Y interchange is paved.

A press release from the Washington State Department of Transportation said the work is scheduled to start July 10 and take about six days. That schedule could be subject to delays due to weather or other conditions, it said.

“Travelers in the area should plan for longer than normal travel times and eastbound travelers may encounter delays of up to 20-30 minutes during peak travel times,” it said. “Access to all interchange ramps will remain in place through the project.”

The project will involve removing the center barrier between the eastbound and westbound lanes and shifting traffic to one lane or the other. The contractors will be working seven days per week, 24 hours per day, until the project is complete, the WSDOT release said.

“Traffic in both directions will be reduced to single lanes. There will be flagger controlled traffic heading east to merge eastbound traffic from US 97-Blewett Pass,” it said.
