Vikings drop third straight
After giving NWAC East-leading and undefeated North Idaho College all they wanted on Wednesday night (January 11th), eventually falling 84-78 to the visiting Cardinals, the Vikings took to the road Saturday (January 14th) in another important NWAC East contest at Yakima Valley College. However, the Yaks were waiting with an offensive barrage, shooting a staggering 59% from the field, on their way to an 87-77 victory and a third straight loss for the Vikings.
Sophomore Karon Sears once again put together a monstrous game, finishing with a game-high 27 points on 10-18 shooting from the field, to go along with a game-high ten rebounds. Sophomore Keenan Miller finished with 16 points, while sophomore DJ Frye followed closely with 14 points. Freshman Gage Ellison rounded out the double-figure scoring for the Vikings with 11 points. Javonte Darrett led the Yaks with 23 points. Despite scoring 77 points in the contest, the Vikings bench failed to score a single point, compared to 35 points from the Yaks bench.
The Vikings (3-10 overall, 1-3 NWAC East) will be back at home, in a quick turnaround for their next contest. They will host Treasure Valley Community College on Monday (January 16th), in a rare weekday afternoon matinee. Tip is scheduled for 4:00pm, following the women's contest.
