Yakima Valley College Lady Yaks had only eight players who saw action in Saturday's (January 14th) contest against the visiting Big Bend Community College Lady Vikings, but five placed in double figures, leading the Lady Yaks to an 87-71 defeat of the Lady Vikings.

Sophomore Callie Tolman paced the Lady Vikings with 19 points, followed closely by freshman Macy Hellstern's 16 points, five rebounds, and a team-high six assists. Big Bend's leading scorer over the past two games, sophomore Ambra Hacker, was held to just 11 points, but finished with a game-high eight rebounds. Freshman Dakota Killian rounded out the double-figure scoring for the Lady Vikings with ten points. For the Lady Yaks, Aliya Finch finished with 20 points. The difference in the game came from deep, as the Lady Vikings were held to 14% (2-14) shooting from three-point range. They were also guilty of 13 floor mistakes, compared to thee Lady Yak's seven.

The Lady Vikings (8-8 overall, 2-2 NWAC East) will have a quick opportunity to make amends for the loss, as they host Treasure Valley Community College (3-11 overall, 1-2 NWAC East) on Monday (January 16th), in a rare weekday afternoon matinee. Gametime is set for 2:00pm, with the men's game to follow.

As always, keep up with the Lady Vikings on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, as well as through the NWACSports Network's livestream video platform, where available.
