Patricia Starnes

Patricia “Patsy” Marie Caviness Starnes went to be with her Heavenly Father on Jan. 8, 2023 and was surrounded by her family.

She was born on June 8, 1938, in McPherson, Kansas. Patsy was the only girl of seven children.

At the age of six months, her family moved to Washington state. Patsy grew up in Elmer City. She graduated from Coulee Dam High School in 1956 and participated and enjoyed various musical and athletic activities.

Patsy attended Howard Payne University, Texas Woman’s University and graduated from Central Washington University receiving her BA in education.

She taught school in North Carolina and at Frontier Junior High School for 27 years, retiring in 2001. She had a love for teaching and students who also loved her.

Patsy was a devout member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, serving as church clerk for 33 years. She also enjoyed singing in the choir.

Her love of travel took her to many places. She was able to visit other countries as well as many popular sites in the U.S.

Patsy is survived by her son, Shane (Michelle), granddaughter Taylor, a brother, Herman Caviness (Jeraldine) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who all loved her.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Ernest and Edith Caviness and five brothers.

Services to be held Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, Emmanuel Baptist Church, Moses Lake. Viewing at noon, Service at 1 then graveside at Guarding Angels Cemetery.
