Othello School Board seeking applicants for open position

OTHELLO — Applications for an open position on the Othello School Board will be accepted through Jan. 17.

The board position is open due to the resignation of longtime board member Mike Garza, who was elected to a seat on the Adams County Commission in November. Garza had been a school board member since 2013.

Applicants must be registered voters and live within the Othello school district boundaries. Garza’s position was at-large, meaning that people living anywhere in the district can apply.

Applicants should submit a letter of interest, a resume and three letters of recommendation to the district office, 1025 S. First Ave. Letters of interest and the other documentation can be sent by email to the board’s executive assistant Marissa Garza, marissagarza@othelloschools.org.

The person appointed to the seat will serve through the 2023 general election. The seat will be on the ballot for a full, four-year term in November.
