Cathy Lindsey (Kirkwood)

Cathy Ann Lindsey (Kirkwood), 71, of Republic, Washington, passed away on Jan. 30, 2023, in Spokane Valley, Washington. She was born on Oct. 20, 1951, at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane, Washington to William G. "Bud”/”Bill" Kirkwood and Clara M. Kirkwood (Wagner).

Cathy lived a full and active life, always working hard and making her home and family her top priority. She was active in 4-H and tennis as a child and teenager. She spent many summers in Wilbur, Washington with her grandparents, aunt and uncle, and cousins.

Cathy also attended Eastern Washington State College in Cheney, Washington.

In 1976, she welcomed twin sons Matt and Chris Rickard, and in 1984, her daughter Cassandra Lindsey.

Cathy spent 45 years of her life in Republic, Washington where she held a variety of jobs, including managing the Eureka Motel and Pine Grove Mini-Storage. She worked for the Ferry County Planning Department as well as a number of years as a bookkeeper at Les Schwab and Anderson’s Property Management. She always loved working outside and connecting with her farm and ranch roots through activities like gardening. Cathy also volunteered for many years as a 4-H leader. She especially supported the Ferry County horse program by coordinating numerous horse shows and events in the area.

Cathy was a devoted mother who loved following her children's athletic and academic pursuits, as well as her daughter's horse shows and fairs. She was a jack-of-all-trades, capable of cooking, cleaning, mowing, fixing toilets and faucets and more. She cherished her small-town life in Republic and her close-knit circle of friends with her variety of pets (cats, dogs, rabbits, bird, horses, sheep).

Cathy was preceded in death by her father Bill Kirkwood and nephew Geoffrey Kirkwood. She is survived by her husband Tom Lindsey of Republic/Omak, Washington; her mother Clara Kirkwood and brother Barry Kirkwood of Moses Lake, Washington; her brother Don Kirkwood (Angie) of Othello, Washington; her son Matt Rickard (Tauni) of Liberty Lake, Washington; her son Chris Rickard (Traci) of Kennewick, Washington; her daughter Cassandra Humpherys (Tim) of Aurora, Colorado; and her seven grandchildren Peyton, Cayla, Cade, Danica, Lauren, Paisley and Zane.

A family memorial and interment will take place at a later time in Wilbur, Washington. Cathy will be deeply missed and always remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
