| February 8, 2023 11:31 AM

April 2, 1944 – February 2, 2023

Helen Gorden, 78, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Feb. 2, 2023, at McKay Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Soap Lake, Washington.

Helen was born to August and Lucille Botley on April 2, 1944, in Pineville, Louisiana. Helen was the third child out of nine children. Helen was very close to her siblings and loved them very much despite the distance.

After high school, Helen moved across the country to Othello, Washington, where she took a job taking care of an elderly couple. There she met and married the love of her life, Douglas Gorden, on March 10, 1963. They enjoyed a happy, loving marriage of 58 years, until Douglas passed less than a year ago.

Helen spent most of her working years in potato processing plants. She retired from Simplot with more than 30 years of service. She enjoyed her job and her coworkers. Helen worked long hours and rotating shifts but always made time for her family and to attend church.

Helen loved the Lord. When she was in good health, she was a prayer warrior and participated in prayer groups. She loved to study the Bible, worship and sing. Helen loved her church home, Moses Lake Christian Alliance, and the people there. She also enjoyed visiting other churches in the community and made friends and enjoyed the fellowship anywhere she went.

Helen is survived by her two children, Douglas Gorden Jr. and Leah Bustamante (David) and her two grandchildren Wayne Blanchard (Lori) and Midori Friedbauer (Joseph).

Celebration of life will be held Feb. 25, 2023, at Moses Lake Alliance Church at 11 am.
