Fire destroys home south of Warden
WARDEN — An early morning fire on Tuesday gutted a house on Road 9 SE south of Warden, according to Warden Police Chief Rick Martin.
Martin said no one was injured in the early morning fire, and the owners of the house were out of town.
“No one was home that we know of,” he said.
Units from Grant County Fire District 4 responded and were assisted by an engine crew from GCFD 5, according to GCFD 4 Chief Kevin Whitaker.
Whitaker said firefighters from GCFD4 were on scene until roughly 2 p.m. on Tuesday, and the house was completely destroyed in the fire.
“It will be a total loss,” he said.
Whitaker said the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Martin said the fire was first detected by a WPD patrol officer at around 5 a.m., adding the patrol officer said the fire had the distinct smell of an electrical fire.
