Robert Wayne Burd

Bob Burd passed away peacefully and pain-free on November 14, 2023, in Gig Harbor, Wash. He was 93.

He was born in Herington, Kan. to Earl and Pauline Burd and moved to Ephrata, Wash. in 1937 where he met his wife, Dona (Loree) Burd, of 64 years.

Bob built his career in the Land Title Insurance Business from the age of 18 to retirement.

He retired as a captain from the Army National Guard after 20 years of service. 

He moved to Longview, Wash., in 1969; Vancouver, Wash., in 1970; Spokane, Wash., in 1972; then back to Vancouver in 1983 and moved to Gig Harbor, Wash., in 2004 to be closer to his daughters.

Bob had a passion for golf and loved living in a golf community in Vancouver where he made many lifetime friends. He enjoyed woodworking, building decks and sheds and the game of cribbage.

He loved sports, playing all sports in high school, coaching women’s softball, and watching basketball, baseball and football on TV.

Bob and his wife, Dona, enjoyed horse racing and invested in a quarterhorse named Go For Annie. They loved being a part of her life and the thrills she gave them racing in local events.

Bob and Dona also loved their cruising trips, trips to Hawaii and traveling with friends and family.

Bob is survived by his daughters, Rodona (Rodie) Burd and Deloree Burd. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dona, brother Adrian Burd, sisters Earlene Harvill, Joan Archer and Norma Lee Scheib.

A placement of his ashes next to his loving wife will be completed June 15, 2024, at the Valley View Memorial Park in Soap Lake, Wash.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
