EPHRATA — An Ephrata man was booked into the Grant County Jail on suspicion of DUI and other charges after he allegedly led law enforcement officers on a chase south of Ephrata on Tuesday.

Christopher Smith, 39, was booked on suspicion of attempting to elude police and failing to obey a police officer along with the DUI charge. 

Smith was discovered by a Grant County Sheriff’s deputy unconscious behind the wheel of a car near the entrance to the Ephrata gun range at about 11 a.m. Tuesday, according to a GCSO release. The car was running and Smith allegedly had drug paraphernalia in his hands, the release said. 

When Smith was awakened he drove away, leading deputies and Ephrata Police Department officers on a chase over about 15 miles of county roads. 

“Deputies finally corralled Smith on a dead-end canal maintenance road near Road 5 Northwest and Road G Northwest,” the release said. 

MOSES LAKE — A Moses Lake woman was arrested Tuesday after she allegedly violated a no-contact order and failed to come out of a house when law enforcement officers asked her to.

Crystal Delgado, 31, was booked into the Grant County Jail on violating a no-contact order, domestic violence and obstructing a law enforcement officer.

Delgado allegedly refused to come out of the house on North Paxson Drive when Moses Lake Police Department officers asked her to, according to a release from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s office K-9 Zedd and his handler, GSCO deputy Luis Jimenez, and the MLPD officers entered the house after she refused to come out.

“Zedd soon found (Delgado) hiding under a large bag, and Zedd apprehended Delgado by her right arm,” the release said.
