ELLENSBURG — The Central Washington Wildcats picked up their seventh straight win with a 28-point defeat of Evergreen State on Tuesday night, shooting 46.3% from the field and 41% from beyond the three-point arc in an 83-55 win.

Tuesday’s contest was the last one before a nine-day break before Central’s next outing; a Dec. 30 home game against Westminster.

"I'm pleased with what I saw from our team today and our intentionality to grow in the ways we wanted,” CWU head coach Randi Richardson-Thornley said in a release. “This is a good way to head into break. I'm proud of our ability to share the ball with 25 assists tonight. It was fun to see our capabilities beyond the three, hitting 16 tonight."

Central held a wire-to-wire lead throughout Tuesday’s game, jumping out to a 13-2 lead after two three-pointers by guard Tori Maeda and later leading 34-17 at the end of the first quarter and 48-28 at the half.

The Wildcats kept their foot on the gas in the second half, putting up 35 points to ride out to an 83-55 win over the Geoducks, the largest margin of victory that Central has ever had in six matchups against Evergreen State.

Guard Asher Cai led all scorers with 21 points Tuesday night, followed by guard Sunny Huerta with 15 and forward Capri Sims with 11. Maeda and Wildcat guard Malia Smith both totaled nine points while guards Keira Marsh and Annalee Coronado, a 2023 graduate of Othello, both finished with seven points.
