Group 14 major equipment installation underway
MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake’s Group 14 BAM-2 plant began installing equipment in its first module, topped out its second module, and is on track to ship its SCC55 silicon-carbon composite anode globally in 2024, according to a Dec. 18 announcement from the organization.
The statement said that earlier this month, equipment installation commenced at the factory’s initial production module, keeping the plant on schedule to manufacture and ship SCC55 from the upcoming factory and meet global demand in 2024.
“Keeping our pace of construction before the year ends, we also topped out the steel structure for the factory’s second module,” the statement said. “This comes just weeks after completing the steel structure of our first BAM-2 module. The team continues to move fast and we can’t wait to share our next stages of progress.”
According to the announcement, Group 14 also gave an onsite tour of BAM-2 to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Manufacturing & Energy Supply Chains, whose Director Giulia Siccardo and Deputy Director David Howell met with Group 14 CEO Rick Luebbe and COO Eric Robinson.
“Siccardo and Howell’s visit follows a history of generous support from the DOE — they were impressed to see our rapid trajectory and developments,” said the statement.
