| December 1, 2023 11:39 AM

Diana Stephens Leland, 66, gained her angel wings Nov. 19, 2023, while surrounded by her loved ones. Diana was a longtime resident of Moses Lake, where she lived with her loving granddaughter Mariah Kultgen who had taken amazing care of her until her final goodbye.

Diana was born April 23, 1957, to Gerald Stephens and Peggy Bellmer in Yakima, Wash. Diana was a sibling of nine children. Her highest form of education was high school before she started her family where she raised three beautiful children Autumlee Rust, Dwaine Kultgen Sr. and Michelle Kultgen, of whom she shared Dwaine and Michelle with Garry Kultgen, and Autumlee with Keneth Thurman.

Diana was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She dedicated her life to her three children and grandchildren, who became her driving force. There wasn’t a time that she wasn’t there for her grandchildren and made it her duty to care for them in any way they needed. Diana was a beautiful soul who would make sure no one ever felt left out and helped people when they were down on their luck. She was an amazing friend to numerous people, especially her longtime family friend Elizabeth Johnson.

Diana loved to spend time with her family, where she fished and hunted to her heart’s content. She loved camping and made it her mission for her grandchildren to camp at Larrabee Beach and Sun Lakes. Her favorite ways to pass the time were crocheting, playing cards and dice and watching hummingbirds in the spring. Diana was woman who enjoyed her flowers and loved everything about purple roses. She had a passion for the Native wolves and surrounded herself with them. She was an active member of Eagles with her friend Elizabeth Johnson and spent most of her life as a bartender at the VFW.

Diana was preceded in death by her parents Gerald Stephens and Peggylee Chillson; her brothers Chris Stephens and Jerry Stephens; her sister-in-law Roberta Stephens and ex-husband Garry Kultgen; her son Dwaine Kultgen Sr. and her cousin Benny Mennigar.

Diana is survived by her two daughters Autumlee (Dustin) Rust of Ephrata, Wash., and Michelle (Cory) Kultgen-Lamar of Lind, Wash. She is a proud grandma of 10 grandchildren August, Jenna, Vallant, Mariah, Myles, Cory Jr., Laniaya, Dwaine Jr., Kc, and Shianne. She also has three beautiful great grandchildren Willow, Kc Jr., and Adelynn. She is survived by her siblings Fabian (Leah) Stephens, Tony (Tammy) Stephens of Moses Lake, Dana (Gloria) Stephens of Odessa, Vallant Stephens of Las Vegas, Danti Stephens of Post Falls and Kim Kirkman of Moses Lake. Diana is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

No memorial services will be held at this time. A celebration of life will be scheduled in the spring due to her love for warmer weather. Any donations or flowers can go to Mariah Kultgen or Vallant Kultgen. May Diana’s memory live on through her family.
