Russell Bernard Solberg

Russell Bernard Solberg was born on January 5, 1931. He passed away July 30, 2023, at Regency Rehab in Wenatchee, Wash. at the age of 92.

Russ was raised on the family farm in Minot, North Dakota with his six brothers. He graduated from Minot High School in 1948. He married Betty Jane and they had four wonderful kids. He worked as a pressman at the Minot Daily News. When the family moved to Lynnwood, WA he transferred to the Seattle Times, where he worked until he retired. They later divorced.

Russ married Meredith and embraced her four children as his own. When they retired, they moved to Othello, Wash. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing pool and canning (with his specialty being apple sauce).

Russ was known for his sense of humor, quick wit, infamous moo call and his love of all sports. He even spent time in his younger days playing semi-pro baseball alongside Roger Maris for the Minot Farm Team.

Russ is survived by his brothers: Lyle and Harold, his children: Sandy, Jerry (Carol), Karen and Linda, stepchildren: Cathy (Glen), Sherry, Tom (Dean), and Lori (Rick). Grandpa Russ had 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Inez Solberg and brothers: Robert (Russ’s twin), Roger, Kenneth and Donald. His wife Meredith, grandson Aaron, and loving friend Fay.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A celebration of life is scheduled for Sept. 23, 2023, at 1 p.m. at MarDon Resort.
