| August 15, 2023 12:44 PM

Santiago “Jimmy” Meza, 69 peacefully passed away at home on August 14, 2023, alongside his wife, Janie, and daughters Andrea, Amanda, and Amelia.

Jimmy was born on May 1, 1954, in Moses Lake, Washington to Consuelo (Connie) and Lupe Meza. He spent the entirety of his life in his hometown which he loved and cherished. One of the fondest memories Jimmy had as a child was growing up in Westlake alongside his best friends, affectionately known as the Westlake Waterdogs.

In 1972, Jimmy met what would be his wife of over 50 years, Janie Martinez. Where there was one, the other was always close by. Jimmy would never be far from his wife and loved every moment of being with her.

Together as a young couple, they brought three wonderful girls into this world. Although he never had a boy his wish was fulfilled many times over with the addition of three amazing sons-in-law: Alfredo, Jeremy and Mike.

If you know Jimmy, you will know he loved his family time and celebrating holidays at his home. Always welcoming people for love, laughs, and plenty of Rolling Stones to dance to. Grand Drive would become the staple residence for the entire Meza family to gather and celebrate life.

In his later years, Jimmy found his truest passions in life. Accepting Jesus as his Lord and Savior and, of course, metal detecting. Jimmy was a constant at the Gorge Amphitheater, always finding hidden treasures to give his family and friends. Whether it was jewelry or coins, anyone with him could see the joy in his eyes and excitement when his metal detector would buzz. It was truly his happy place.

He is preceded in death by his father Lupe Meza and brother Raymon Meza. He is survived by his wife Janie Meza; his three daughters Andrea Surface (Alfredo), Amanda Lundberg (Jeremy) and Amelia Cooley (Mike); ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; mother Consuelo Meza; sisters Linda Medina, Pita Cervantes and Mila Garza (Jaime); and brothers Frank Meza, and Daniel Campos.

Services will be at Restore City Church on Friday, Aug. 18 at 11a.m. A potluck luncheon to follow immediately after the service.
