ESD names assistant director of teaching and learning

EPHRATA - The Ephrata School District has hired Deb Knox to serve as the assistant director of teaching and learning, according to an ESD press release.

“Making the move from helping students at a building level to providing assistance district-wide is an exciting one,” said Knox. “Ephrata Schools has a culture of supporting all aspects of our students as they learn and grow. I’m excited to be in a position where I can support this work throughout the district.”

Knox has been with the district since 2016, and has served as a teacher and administrator. Most recently, she served as dean of students at Columbia Ridge Elementary. She has also been an assistant principal at the Quincy School District and aided in the adoption and implementation of curriculum for the Moses Lake School District.

The position Knox is taking on is new to Ephrata schools and was formed due to a restructuring of responsibilities following the retirement of District Office Administrator Frank Cardwell. Knox will assume the responsibilities of district assessment coordinator and will aid with strategic planning. The goal is to utilize assessments to increase student achievements and overall outcomes for students.

Knox holds a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Central Washington University and a master's degree in Education in Curriculum Instruction from Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass. She holds an Administration Professional Certificate from Eastern Washington University.
