Patricia Arlene Wride

| April 28, 2023 1:43 PM

Patricia Arlene Wride’s family and friends' lives changed forever on April 20 when their beloved mother, sister, aunt and close friend passed away at the Trios Hospital in Tri-Cities, Washington after courageously battling various health conditions.

Patricia, also known as Patty, was born in Vancouver, Washington on May 3, 1966, to proud parents Richard Donald and Florence Elizabeth White.

She attended grade schools in Vancouver, Washington; Jr. High in Enumclaw, Washington and High School in Camas, Washington, graduating in 1984.

Patty served as a dialysis nurse in Battleground, Washington for 15 years, dedicating her life to others, when at the age of 36 she met her soon-to-be husband Nickolas J. Wride, otherwise known as “Nick.”

Patty moved to Moses Lake, Washington, where she lived the remainder of her life as a loving wife and mother to her husband and three children. She lived a life committed to God, serving ministries in her community such as God’s little children, Acts of Love and Adventist Community Services where she put her words into action and lived her motto “Love Never Fails.”

Throughout the short yet impactful 56 years of her life, Patty devoted her time to helping others. She was an interpreter for the deaf and organized sewing bees to supply baby blankets to young mothers in crisis. She put together hygiene packs for the homeless, and created what she called “Bags of Love” for children fleeing domestic violence. Patty organized work crews to help the elderly and disabled with yardwork and volunteered her time to local nonprofits such as Serve Moses Lake, New Hope, and the food bank. She also coordinated food baskets to be made and distributed to families around the holidays.

Patty could not stand injustice and when she saw a need, she did all she could to meet it. As a result, she lived much of her life caring for others: disabled friends, her grandparents, her first husband (as he was terminally ill), and her parents. She was a health care advocate for the elderly and a payee – helping the financially unstable get back on their feet.

Patty’s greatest wish was, “for everyone to feel the warmth of God’s Love.” She disliked praise and gave all the glory to God, for he had touched her life in so many ways and was with her through all her suffering. She believed God was our Maker, and we are his messengers of love.

Patty enjoyed fishing (when she had the time), taking long drives in the country, and gardening, she loved feeding her birds and squirrels and listening to windchimes, she loved singing and praising her lord, playing the piano, and reading her Bible, she cherished memories and each moment mattered.

She was a gourmet chef and was known for her homecooked meals and creative baking, she was an amazing listener (but don’t think she couldn’t do her share of talking too). She had a wonderful sense of humor and even work was made fun. Patty was trustworthy, one never doubted her love, because she gave it unconditionally.

She is survived by her three children, son, Nathan K. Wride; daughter, Harmony E.G. Wride; daughter, Charis M. Wride; daughter-in-law, Ana B. Wride; grandson, Mateo Z. Wride; sister, Cathy E. White; two brothers, Larry E. White; and brother, William “Bill” J. White.

Patty was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas J. Wride; brother, Richard “Rick” D. White Jr.; and her parents Richard and Florence White.

The family would like to thank the Seventh Day Adventist Church for their continuous prayers and thoughtfulness, and for loving Patty to the end.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at the Moses Lake Seventh Day Adventist Church, located at 1601 W. Valley Road in Moses Lake, Washington. The service will begin at 3 p.m. on May 6. A meal will be served following the service. Pastor Clinton Meharry will be officiating.
