January 27, 1953 – April 18, 2023

Paul Anthony Smith, born Jan. 27, 1953, of Moses Lake, Washington passed away very unexpectedly on April 18, 2023, at the age of 70 years. He was on a return trip home from a very much-needed vacation with his wife Chantel at his side.

Paul was born in Ritzville, Washington to Ted Leroy Smith and Frances Alayne Smith. His siblings Marsha, Mark, Geoff and Ned completed their family.

Paul grew up in Othello, Washington, and graduated from Othello High School in 1971.

At the young age of 21 he began his own family. He met Amelia Garcia and her children Troy, Debbie, Tammie and Chris and in 1978 he had his own child with Amelia, Nedra Brook.

He moved many times looking for that perfect profession, including Idaho as a truck driver, California operating a chicken ranch, Montana owning and operating Smith Pump and Irrigation with his parents and siblings and lastly Moses Lake managing Sporty’s.

Although Paul and Amelia grew apart and separated in 1993 he continued to claim her children and stayed involved in their lives until the end.

He met the love of his life in 1997 at Sporty’s, Chantel Falconer. He always commented about what a big heart she has, and boy was he right! Paul and Chantel first married March 6, 2000, and he gained Ryan as his son. He loved Chantel so much he married her again March 8, 2016. He was going to make sure this time was forever!

Paul enjoyed a family trait of keeping his yard impeccable and flowers blooming in abundance. He very much enjoyed golfing and always looked forward to his annual golf trip with “the guys.”

Paul had many, many friends along the way and cared for each and every one of them. He prided himself in his antics and quick wit and was truly convinced he was a pretty funny guy.

Paul is survived by his wife Chantel; brother Mark (Suzie); children Troy, Debbie (Brad), Tammie (Tim), Nedra (Johnny) and Ryan; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces and hundreds of friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Ted and Fran Smith, sister Marsha and brothers Geoff and Ned.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no formal service but a celebration of life is in the planning for the very near future.
