David Wayne Watterson

David Wayne Watterson passed away unexpectedly April 8, 2023, at the hospital in Chewelah, Wash. David was only 65 years old. His family is deeply saddened by his sudden death. David was a deeply devoted Christian and it comforts his family to know he is at rest with our Lord and Savior.
David was born Oct. 1, 1957, in Seattle, Wash., to Jake and Mary Watterson, followed by his brother, Eric, and sister Susan. David attended school in Moses Lake, graduating in 1976 from Moses Lake High School. David’s high school activities included drama club where he performed in many high school plays. He also played the trumpet in the Moses Lake High School band. During high school, he was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church where he was an active member of the youth group. He also attended college and graduated from Lutheran Bible Institute in Issaquah, Wash. David was married at the time of his death to the love of his life, Sunni, whom he met in Anacortes, Wash.
David spent several years employed at Simmonds Glass in Anacortes. After retiring from the glass company he returned to Moses Lake and worked for a time at Skaug Brothers Glass finally retiring for good and moving with Sunni to Chewelah to begin enjoying his life in a new home on the golf course where he could admire the wildlife around him.
David loved nature and being outdoors. He was a gentle soul, kind and loving. He had a dry sense of humor which kept his friends and family entertained. He was a friend to all people he met and would help anyone in need. He will truly be missed.
David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ben and Evelyn Zickler and Russell and Frank Nimz.
He is survived by his wife, Sunni, two stepdaughters, Cassandra and Madeline, parents Jake and Mary Watterson, brother Eric, sister Susan (John Hohman), nephew Mitchell (Jazelda, great-niece Noa Hohman), niece Abbey Hohman and several other uncles, aunts, cousins and close friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 20, at 1 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1020 S. A St. in Moses Lake.
