Sharon Alece Hampton
November 21, 1947 – April 4, 2023
Sharon Alece Hampton, 75, of Bouse, Arizona, passed away on April 4, 2023, after a brief, heroic battle with cancer.
Born Sharon Alece Kingsbury on Nov. 21, 1947, in Wenatchee, Washington, she spent her early childhood on the family farm in the foothills of the Colockum, where her father tended a modest dairy herd and sold their milk to a local Wenatchee dairy. After the dairy closed in 1954, the family moved to Hillsboro, Oregon, where they owned a service station and small grocery store. Sharon, along with her brothers and sister, worked together in the store each day after school.
After graduating from Hillsboro High in 1965, Sharon went on to study at Portland Business College, which led to her first job as a legal secretary for a prestigious law firm in downtown Portland. Following the birth of her first child, William, she left the frenetic pace of a downtown firm and dedicated her life to being a wonderful and loving mother. She then went on to have three more children: Robert, Jennifer and Michael.
Sharon was passionate about motherhood and embraced her role as the matriarch and foundation of her family. She enjoyed volunteering her time for her family and friends, including leading Scout troops, baking cakes for charities and planning social events for her church. As her young family traded city life for that of farming, they moved to Sunnyside, Washington, where Sharon oversaw the family farm, and then to Ephrata, Washington, where she managed the family’s large dairy farm. Although farming demanded much of her time, Sharon continued to volunteer for other causes, even leading the family’s 4-H club, “Family Affair 4-H.”
As her children grew older, Sharon was steadfast in her determination that each go to college, if they chose that pursuit. As each of her children left the farm to follow their own path to college and beyond, Sharon transitioned back into business administration, eventually landing at the Moses Lake Police Department, where she worked until retirement. As Sharon became a grandmother, she cared deeply for each of her grandchildren, showering them with love and affection. After retirement, Sharon and her husband Ron Hampton moved from eastern Washington to the quiet, desert respite of southern Arizona.
Sharon is predeceased by her parents Vern Kingsbury and Lucy Knapp. Sharon is survived by her husband Ron and her siblings Ken, Don, and Faye. Sharon is also survived by her four children William, Robert, Jennifer and Michael, as well as her many loving grandchildren. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held in Moses Lake, Washington, later this summer.
