Off-ramp to close for Wenatchee roundabout construction
WENATCHEE — The off ramp at the intersection of Wenatchee’s Easy Street and Highway 2 will be closed beginning Saturday and will remain closed for about two months.
The ramp is being closed as part of the construction of a roundabout at the intersection, according to a press release from the Washington State Department of Transportation. Drivers who want to access Highway 2, which is the main route to Cashmere and Leavenworth, will be directed to a detour at the Penny Road off ramp, the press release said.
A temporary roundabout has been installed at the eastbound on ramp for the Odabashian Bridge at Euclid Avenue. Drivers should be on the lookout for more traffic turning left at that roundabout, the press release said.
Drivers are being advised to add a little more time to their trip to accommodate delays.
“East Wenatchee commuters traveling at peak times should consider using the George Sellar Bridge to avoid adding to the congestion,” the press release said.
Construction began April 3 and the intersection is scheduled to reopen in mid-June, according to information on the WSDOT website. A section of Easy Street, from the Highway 2 intersection to Ohme Gardens Road, has been closed to accommodate the project.
Most eastbound and westbound traffic will be able to get through the intersection, the DOT website said, but most northbound and southbound traffic will be detoured.
