June 21, 1935 – February 20, 2023

Louise Beatrice Ownby passed away Feb. 20, 2023, from a sudden illness. She was born in Jacksboro, Tennessee on June 21, 1935, and moved to Peshastin-Dryden when she was 6 years old. She was the third of five children born to Clifton Tidwell and Katherine (Audie) Brown. She had two older brothers and two younger sisters. She was educated in Peshastin-Dryden, Washington.

She met S.L. (Seaton Luther) Ownby at a skating rink in Wenatchee in 1950. When S.L. saw her he said, "I'm going to marry that girl!" In 1952 they were married in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. They made their home in Peshastin-Dryden, Washington for most of their lives. S.L. worked in the lumber industry and Louise was a homemaker. They had two children, Sharon and Ken.

Louise enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom. She loved to cook, bake, read, play cards and do crossword puzzles until her eyes failed her in her later years and she could no longer do the things she loved.

Louise and S.L. were married for 62 years until S.L. passed away from complications from Alzheimer's on April 22, 2017. Louise went to reside at Avamere Assisted Living where she lived until her death.

Louise met Joe Russell at Avamere Assisted Living where he became her constant companion for the past three years.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband S.L., her son Ken, two older brothers Earl and Jim and one younger sister Helen. She is survived by her daughter Sharon (Tom) of Moses Lake, Washington; her sister Kathy of Jacksboro, Tennessee; four grandchildren Nikki Brown (Dave) of Olympia, Josh Ownby of California, Jacquie Dorsing (Scott) of Royal City, Washington and Ryan Kallenberger (Jen) of Gig Harbor, Washington; 11 great-grandchildren Tyler, Carter and Brooklyn Dorsing, Rokki and Cash Brown, Jadyn, Haley, Eli and Kyla Kallenberger and Emily and Ashley Ownby; and her companion Joe Russell. Thanks to the entire staff at Avamere Assisted Living for taking such good care of Louise for the last seven years. A very special thank you to Jody, Joy and Peggy.

Heritage Memorial Chapel in East Wenatchee is in charge of the arrangements. There will be a private family memorial in Leavenworth, Washington on Saturday, April 15.
