Traffic revision will make Quincy street right turn only
QUINCY — Signs are scheduled to start going up this week on a traffic revision at the intersection of State Route 28 and First Avenue SW in Quincy that will eliminate left turns onto SR 28 from First Avenue SW.
That section of SR 28, where it runs through Quincy, also is designated as F Street SW.
Quincy Public Works Director Carl Worley said First Avenue SW will become right turns only onto SR 28, and drivers will be prohibited from going across the intersection. Currently both left turns and traffic across the intersection are allowed.
Lauren Loebsack, communications manager for the North Central region for the Washington State Department of Transportation, said there isn’t expected to be much impact to traffic while the work is underway.
“This is a cooperative project with the city of Quincy,” Loebsack wrote in response to an email from the Herald. “This project will be completed by city and state staff. It will add traffic control components to the existing intersection, creating the right turn only lane.”
