CHENEY – After leading Eastern Washington women's soccer to a 2-0 record, Gillian Martin is the Big Sky offensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference Wednesday. This is Martin's first career Player of the Week honor.

Martin recorded two goals this past week that pushed Eastern to the top of the table in the Big Sky.

The sophomore scored the game-winning goal in the Eagles' 1-0 victory over Idaho State on Sept. 22. Martin positioned herself in the box and received a perfect pass from Katrina Kupp. Converting the opportunity, Martin headed the ball past the ISU Bengals' goalie for the score.

Martin's second goal of the week came on Sunday, in the team's 3-1 win over Weber State. Driving down the pitch, the Yakima native collected the ball off a give-and-go from Maddie Morgan and scored Eastern's first goal of the match.

Martin started both matches and played 119 minutes in total. The goals were Martin's first of the season and she now has four total for her career as an Eagle.

This season, Martin is tied for second on the team in goals (2) and total shots (11).

This is Eastern Washington's first Player of the Week award since September 2021, when Sariah Keister earned offensive Player of the Week.
