Mattawa teens hit by car, one injured
MATTAWA — Mattawa Police officers are still investigating a collision involving two teenagers who were hit by a car while crossing Government Road Monday morning.
“We’re looking at cameras in the area,” said Mattawa Police Chief Robert Salinas Wednesday.
One teen was transported to a hospital, but Salinas said the injuries were not life-threatening.
“Speed did not play any factor,” Salinas said.
The collision occurred in the 500 block of Government Road at about 7:15 a.m. Monday, according to an MPD statement. The two teens were in a crosswalk.
Salinas said both drivers and pedestrians need to be aware of each other, especially before and after school when the streets are busy.
“Keep an eye out and be mindful. Vehicles and pedestrians both,” Salinas said.
