Zags' Bosselmann earns third Defensive Player of the Week award
SAN MATEO, CALIF. – Gonzaga women’s soccer goalkeeper Lyza Bosselmann was named as the West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, following strong performances against Weber State and Idaho State.
The award is the third of Bosselmann’s career, earning the Defensive Player of the Week last September as well as in the Spring 2021 season.
In road wins over Weber State and Idaho State, Bosselmann recorded seven saves and helped propel the Zags to a 4-2-2 record. With both matches being shutout wins, the senior from Arizona recorded her fourth shutout of the 2022 season.
In all eight of Gonzaga’s matches of the year, Bosselmann has remained in the net for all 720 minutes of the matches. Overall, she has recorded 23 saves and is fourth in the WCC in goals against average (.88).
Bosselmann’s 15 career shutouts are the second-most in program history, and her career goals against average (.93) is the most in program history. Her 150 saves are the 10th most in Gonzaga history.
