| September 13, 2022 11:02 AM

October 23, 1939 – August 7, 2022

Alvin Burgess passed away with his family by his side. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa and brother.

He was born Oct. 23, 1939, to Velma Burgess and Lee Burgess in Colville, Washington. Alvin was raised on the family farm in Summit Valley and attended School in Chewelah, Washington where he lettered in every sport. He went on to college at EWU until he met the love of his life, Mary Groeper. They moved to Moses Lake in 1963 and started a new life in the Basin. Alvin worked at WR Grace for a few years, then went on to work at Arden Farms, Darigold, and Safeway Milk Plant until he retired. After retirement Alvin decided to get his real estate license and worked as an agent for four years, then decided it was time to retire.

Alvin loved hunting and spending time at home in his yard. He loved playing baseball and coached Little League for several years. Alvin would take the entire team to the Little League Day in Seattle to meet the Mariners.

Alvin would help anyone and everyone who asked, along with others who didn’t. He was a kind person and taught his kids to be the same way. He would help all the kids in 4-H and taught us to be responsible. He would always say ‘If you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all.”

Alvin was preceded in death by his brothers Vernon, Norm, Herschell, Jerry, Lorin and Loy and two sisters Theda and Lois.

He is survived by one brother Ron; his wife Mary of 54 years; daughters Cheryl Paterson, Rhonda Ebel and Kim and Gary Demmer; two sons Brian and Olivia Burgess and Kevin and Stephanie Burgess; and many grandkids, nieces and nephews.

Dad believed in the Lord Jesus Christ and knew he would some day leave this earth to be with the Lord his savior and his family in heaven.

We will miss him and his smart remarks. We will have a celebration of life for Alvin on Oct. 22 at 8033 Road 4.2 NE in Moses Lake for his birthday and get together to share stories. Contact Kevin Burgess for more details at 509-750-8097.
