Letter: Audubon Society celebrates local birds

| September 7, 2022 1:00 AM

As the recently elected President of the Central Basin Audubon Society, I would like to thank the Columbia Basin Herald for printing the excellent AP article, "What's a Garden Without Birds?" in the Friday, Aug. 5 Columbia Basin Homes section. It is both a timely and informational article that we do hope your readers take interest in. The article mentions the Audubon Database for Native Plants and explains how to create a habitat for birds, so they can thrive and why this is important. Our Audubon group focuses on education and provides this via the elementary classroom presentations and field trips to the Columbia National Wildlife Refuge with our trained volunteers. This article was timely, since we are currently seeking interested members and volunteers for these activities and others, i.e. bird walks, the Sandhill Crane Festival, Birding Day, etc. For more information, please find our Facebook page at Central Basin Audubon Society, or our website at centralbasinaudubonsociety.org.
