Juanita Lorene (Nance) Ottestad

| September 1, 2022 11:12 AM

Juanita Lorene (Nance) Ottestad of Moses Lake was taken into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Aug. 30, 2022 in the presence of family.

Nita was born in 1938 in Los Angeles, California; her parents were Nola and Chester Nance. She married her loving husband Doug Ottestad on Feb. 12, 1960, in Burien, Washington. (Valentines Day, Feb. 14, the church was already taken for a wedding, so they settled for Lincoln's birthday.) They were given 62 wonderful years of marriage – she will be so greatly missed!

Nita was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church for nearly 34 years. She accompanied Cleo Stevens' choir on the piano and organ at Sunday morning Mass for nearly 20 years before arthritis crippled her fingers. Her arthritis also affected her gardening, greatly reducing the amount of beautiful floral plantings that made her yard so attractive.

Nita and Doug met at Boeing (Plant 1 – Boeing's original location) in 1958; she was the secretary for the Protective Finishes Group in which Doug was an engineer. They went into the apartment business after leaving Boeing, owning and operating several apartment buildings, the largest of which was the 30-unit Fireside Lanai Apartments on Queen Anne Hill.

Nita is survived by her husband Doug Ottestad, her niece Dena King and her nephew David Nance.

Her parents Nola and Chester Nance and her brother Chester Nance Jr. preceded her passing.

Holy Rosary will be said at Our Lady of Fatima Church at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday Sept. 7, followed by Mass at 1 p. m.
