Red Leafs, #7 Vikings, await Wildcats in pivotal GNAC road trip

Burnaby, B.C. - The Wildcats face a key road trip in their quest for a GNAC championship berth. Currently sitting in 6th place, one game back from Simon Fraser and Western Oregon, the 'Cats need to close out the season strong in order to break into the top four and compete in GNAC postseason play. The Wildcats travel to Burnaby, B.C., and Bellingham, Washington, this week to face Simon Fraser and seventh-ranked Western Washington.

Simon Fraser is 3-6-5 overall, and 2-5-3 in GNAC play. Earlier this season the teams battled for a 3-3 draw in Ellensburg, WA. On the day, Jordan Bartlow, Cassidie Andrews, and Kayla Gout, each scored for the Crimson and Black.

The Red Leafs have netted 14 goals this season and are averaging a goal per game. Kiara Buono is their leading scorer with three tallies. Nicole Anderson and Sarah Loewen are sharing time in net. Loewen has 8 starts, 8 goals, and 39 saves.

The Wildcats then go on to face seventh-ranked Western Washington this Saturday. WWU boasts a 10-1-3 record. 9-0-1 in the GNAC. The Vikings attack is led by reigning GNAC Offensive Player of the Week, Estera Levinte, with 5 goals. The Vikings have netted 27 goals in 14 games.

Graduate student Claire Henninger is a stalwart in goal for the Vikings posting a goals-against average of 0.54, to go with 27 saves and 9 wins. The Vikings look to continue their dominance while the Wildcats are working to avenge their recent loss to the Vikings 3-0 in September.

The Wildcats offense is led by Emily Darcy and Jordan Bartlow who have each netted 4 goals this season. Sophomore Kassandra Jaggard has been leading the charge in net, with 40 saves on the season in conference play, the second-most amongst all GNAC goalies.
