EWU Women’s Tennis Set for ITA Regionals This Weekend

CHENEY — Eastern Washington women's tennis is on the road this weekend for the ITA Northwest Regionals. The tournament will take place from Friday, Oct. 14 through Tuesday, Oct. 18 in Stanford, Calif. The doubles round will begin at 8:30 a.m. Pacific Time on Friday, with the singles round starting at 10 a.m.

"Our regional tournament always provides great competition and Stanford is a great place to play," head coach Dustin Hinson said. "We have been training hard over the past couple of weeks to build upon what we started at our first tournament at home. We will enjoy competing against some tough players from our region. I'm hopeful that we can grow on the court and as a team throughout the weekend."

The Eagles have six players competing, as Isabella Foshee, Leandra Nizetic, Kenzington Mann, Sara Vasic, Taylor Andersen and Renata Gabuzyan will all be among the field. The six Eagles will compete in the singles and doubles main draw.

Doubles

The doubles competition will start the ITA Regionals on Friday, with Foshee and Nizetic taking the court for Eastern. The duo will face Washington's Sarah-Maude Fortin and Astrid Olsen.

Andersen and Gabuzyan partner to take on Seattle U's Liliya Dimova and Elena Kraleva in their first matchup.

Vasic and Mann will take the court together against Meagan Pearson and Alaia Rubio Perez from Portland.

Singles

The singles competition opens with Foshee facing Rimona Rouf from Portland in her first match.

Nizetic's first match will have her meeting Fresno State's Yinglak Jittakoat.

In her first match, Mann will take on Olivia Wiese from Pacific.

Vasic will face San Jose State's Irena Muradyan in her opening match.

Andersen matches up against San Francisco's Arianna Capogrossa.

Gabuzyan will take on Hiaru Sato from Washington to start her competition.

Last Time Out

Eastern opened its fall schedule two weeks ago on its home courts, hosting the EWU Hidden Duals.

Foshee won two singles matches and a doubles match during the three-day competition, playing with Vasic in doubles. Nizetic would win her singles and doubles match on the second day of competition, playing with Andersen. Gabuzyan and Mann would each win a singles match on day one and then joined together to win their doubles match on day two.

Up Next

Eastern Washington will take a week off before returning to action at the Gonzaga Tournament, starting on Friday, Oct. 28 and ending on Sunday, Oct. 30.
