MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake High School volleyball team fell to Eastmont in three sets Tuesday night. The loss ends the Mavs' season.

“We were just a step or two off,” said head coach Krystal Trammell. “Instead of anticipating, I think we reacted.”

Despite a tough fight, Moses Lake lost all three sets; 19-25, 24-26 and 22-25.

“We knew going into it that Eastmont is traditionally a very good program so we had to be on our game and limit our mistakes and play to the best of our ability and that we would go probably four or five (sets),” Trammell said.

The Mavericks had beaten Eastmont twice in the regular season prior to the district play-in Tuesday evening.

Even with the loss, Trammell said her team had some highlights in their fight.

“We worked a lot on our blocking and last night’s blocking was our best that we had all season,” said Trammell.

Senior Annalyse Hernandez had three digs, senior Cece Trinnaman had five assists, senior Jazlynn Torres had 12 digs, senior Kailee Kellum had four kills and five digs, senior Kathryn Pugh had 14 blocks and one kill, sophomore Kenna Stuart had four kills, two blocks, five aces and 18 digs sophomore Maddy Bond had three kills, five blocks and four digs, senior Sydney Macdonald had seven assists, one ace and two digs, junior Paytan Andrews had four blocks, one dig and junior Raegen Hofheins had one kill one ace and six digs.

“The nice thing with this team, they were so versatile that we could move three or four people into different positions,” Trammell said.

The Mavs end the season with an overall record of 7-9.

Trammell said this season has had many milestones that she is very proud of. One of the biggest is the fact that they won nearly half of their games this season. Trammell said they did not win a single game last season.

“I told the girls to leave everything you have on the court because this is it and enjoy what you’re doing,” said Trammell.
