Soap Lake observes Memorial Day

SOAP LAKE — Ceremonies at the Soap Lake, Ephrata and Quincy cemeteries were held on Memorial day by members of the VFW Post 24, American Legion Post 28, VFW Auxiliary Unit 24 and American Legion Auxiliary unit 28.

VFW Post 24 Commander Phil Anderson gave a small speech at each ceremony. In his speech he said he wanted people to enjoy their barbeques and days off from work but to simply remember why they have the freedom to do so; to take a moment and reflect on those that gave their lives for their freedom.

The speech was followed by the laying of a few wreaths and the American Legion Colorguard.
