Morning roundup: Spring Festival, Quincy athletes, stoplights
Springfest springs back, Jacks take all-league honors and traffic lights get a makeover. Here’s what’s happening in the Basin today:
Spring Festival
Moses Lake’s biggest community celebration returns to McCosh Park Thursday after two years on the back burner, and it’s pulling out all the stops. Carnival, car show, 3-on-3 basketball, a lip-sync contest and lots of entertainment are all on the agenda through Sunday. Free concerts by country artists Chris Janson, Priscilla Block and Colt Ford are all planned at the Centennial Amphitheater.
QHS athletes garner all-league honors
Several Quincy High School athletes were recognized on the all-Caribou Trail League teams. A total of 49 Jackrabbits garnered awards in soccer, tennis, golf, softball, baseball and track and field. Two QHS athletes won Player of the Year in their respective sports.
Stoplight upgrade
Traffic lights in Moses Lake will be getting upgrades in the near future. Signals at 11 intersections will be fitted out with state-of-the-art technology. The lights were made in the 1980s and parts have been difficult to come by, according to City Engineer Richard Law.
