Quincy’s B Street Market adds more Saturdays

QUINCY — Quincy’s B Street Market is expanding its days of operation for summer 2022. The market will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday – with one exception – from June 4 through Sept. 24.

“It’s going to be (open) every Saturday instead of every other Saturday,” market manager Chelsea Putnam said.

The exception is Sept. 10, when the market will be closed for Quincy’s annual town celebration, Farmer-Consumer Awareness Day.

The market moved to its location on B Street in 2021. Vendors set up between Central Avenue North and First Street Southeast.

The expansion follows the addition of Jessica Huerta, Quincy, to the market’s board. Huerta previously worked with the farmers market in Wenatchee, Putnam said.

Market operators changed the name from the Quincy Farmers Market.

“And we did that for some very intentional reasons,” Putnam said.

Market managers want as wide a variety of vendors as possible, she said, looking for art, handcrafts and food as well as produce. The emphasis, Putnam said, will be on handcrafted items, whether it’s food, art or produce.

“Handmade, homegrown,” Putnam said.

She said vendors are encouraged to apply if they think they might fit the criteria.

“Apply, tell us what you have and we’ll let you know,” she said.

“We’re always looking for vendors, and we’re always looking for volunteers,” she said.
