Basin golfers scatter across Washington for state play

COLUMBIA BASIN – Several golfers across the Columbia Basin qualified for state golf tournaments which begin today on various courses across Washington.

Ephrata leads the way with eight student-athletes qualifying for state, sending six boys to Olympia and two girls to Tumwater.

Read below to see where all the Columbia Basin golfers will be heading to, and when their tee times are.

Moses Lake senior Caiden Gubler qualified for an individual spot in the 4A tournament. His tee time is 10:20 a.m. at Indian Summer Golf & Country Club in Olympia.

The Ephrata’s boys team will have their first tee off at 9:56 a.m. by Max Hewitt at Capitol City Golf Club in Olympia. Following Hewitt is Kenji Pickeral at 11:08 a.m., Koa Williams at 11:16 a.m., Carter Burns at 12:04 p.m., Hunter Ogle at 12:12 p.m. and Mason Moore at 12:20 p.m.

Joining Ephrata in the boys competition are Othello’s Will Parrish and T.J. Murdock. The two will tee off at 10:44 a.m. and 11:32 a.m. respectively.

For the Ephrata Girls, Jayme Dwight will tee off at 8:30 a.m. followed by Logan Pickeral at 10:40 a.m. at Tumwater Valley Golf Club. For Othello, Mariah Murdock will tee off at 10:20 a.m., followed by Chelsea Field at 10:40 a.m. in Tumwater.

Royal’s Erza Jenks will tee off at 8:30 a.m. followed by Elijah Jenks at 8:39 a.m. and Riker Christensen at 9:06 a.m. in Spokane. The trio will be playing at Indian Canyon Golf Course.

Quincy’s duo of Emily Wurl and Julisa Trevino will tee off at 10:27 a.m. and 11:12 a.m. in Spokane. Royal’s Molli Klefbeck will tee off at 12:42 p.m. at the same course.

The 1B/2B tournament will be held at Deer Park Golf Course in Deer Park for both the boys and girls. Odessa’s trio of Daeton Deife, Chad Strebeck and Landen Brooks will tee off at 10:10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 11:40 a.m. respectively. Also for Odessa, Gage Starkle will tee off at 12:20 p.m.. Wrapping up on the boys side are Wilbur-Creston-Keller’s Christian Ekstrom at 12 p.m., Lind-Ritzville’s Hunter Dinkins at 12:10 p.m. and Lake Roosevelt’s Terek Bush at 12:50 p.m..

On the girls side of the tournament Warden leads the way with three Columbia Basin area golfers. The three Lady Cougars are Lauren Madsen, Jaryn Madsen and Reagan Golladay; the three tee off at 8:10 a.m., 8:40 a.m., and 9:30 a.m. respectively. They are joined by Odessa’s Melloney Deife who tees off at 7:50 a.m., Lind-Ritzville’s Amelia Court who tees off at 8:10 a.m. and Odessa’s Laela Hardung who tees off at 8:20 a.m. in Deer Park.

The state competition runs from today to tomorrow on various courses across the state.
