EPHRATA — The Ephrata School District announced via a press release that current Grant Elementary School Dean of Students Jeremy Vasquez has been selected to fill the role of principal at Parkway Intermediate School.

“I am very honored and excited to assume the position of Parkway Intermediate School Principal. As a lifelong teacher, coach, community member and parent, I have a vested interest in the success of the Ephrata School District and the Ephrata community at large,” Vasquez said in the release.

Vasquez was selected from an internal pool of four Ephrata SD staff and the decision to choose him for the position was made Wednesday evening. The selection process involved Ephrata SD leaders as well as current Parkway staff members.

“We are very excited that Jeremy is joining our district leadership team as the new principal of Parkway Intermediate School,” said Ephrata SD Superintendent, Tim Payne. “His unique combination of attributes, qualifications and experiences throughout the school district and community make him the ideal candidate to take on this important role.”

Vasquez has a masters degree in educational administration and two Bachelor of Schence in Education degrees from Central Washington University. He also holds a masters in K-5 mathematics from Walden University. Vasquez first began his career at Ephrata SD in 2009 as a teacher and has gone on to participate in multiple community advisory groups and eventually worked his way into his current position at Grant Elementary.

Vasquez will begin transitioning into his new role at Parkway immediately, formally taking on the duties of principal on July 1. He takes the place of Dawn Turley who is leaving the position at the end of the year to move closer to family out of state. Vasquez said he looks forward to serving the community and connecting with students and their families.

“I greatly value making connections and building relationships that help to positively impact students and their learning. I look forward to continuing this work as the new Parkway principal,” Vasquez said.
