August 17, 1937 — December 19, 2021

Margie Coleen Christian Schoessler was born in Shattuck, Oklahoma on Aug. 17, 1937, to Claude Jennings Christian and Naomi Aileen Kratz. Marge found eternal peace and comfort on Dec. 19, 2021, after she fought a courageous battle with breast cancer.

As a young child Marge lived on a small farm two miles west of Harmon, Oklahoma. Marge was one of six children and when she was 6 years old, they moved to Redmond, Oregon, arriving in early 1944. Her father was working for the County and farming part-time. In early 1950, Claude got a job in construction on the Grand Coulee Dam. He moved the family to Ephrata, Washington later that year. In March of 1952 the family moved to Warden, Washington and stayed there for several years. Marge graduated from Warden High School in 1955.

Marge is survived by Richard her husband of 59 years, son Jay and daughter Jill (Stuart), eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Marge is also survived by her sister Thelma and two brothers, Gene and Roy. Marge is preceded in death by her parents and sisters Noma and Lou.

Marge enjoyed every day of life with endless love for family; tireless passion for music, dancing and singing; her friendships with her dogs and the joy she found in everyday things. She loved telling stories of growing up with her siblings singing, dancing and performing. Her brother Roy said she was his greatest fan when he played the guitar. Marge enjoyed her 32 years at the Warden School District and made many lifelong friends amongst her coworkers.

After retirement, Marge and Dick were snow birds to Arizona for many years. While in Arizona they danced and traveled through the United States and went on four square dance cruises. Marge and Dick also danced at the Senior Games in St. George, Utah 10 years in a row and earned 22 medals in competition. They met many wonderful people and made many new friends through square dancing. Marge found special enjoyment sharing these experiences with their good friends Chuck and Sandi Weiss and she especially loved dancing when Chuck was calling.

After her cancer treatments were complete in Arizona, Marge and Dick decided to move back to Washington. They settled in Cheney to be closer to their son Jay in Colville and their daughter Jill in Ephrata and grandchildren that live nearby.

Our family would like to express our appreciation for the pain-free care and love Marge received at Hospice of Spokane.

A memorial service has been scheduled for May 21, 2022, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Medical Lake, Washington. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the breast cancer foundation in Marge’s name.

Cheney Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
