Tuesday fire strikes encampment of homeless Moses Lake residents

A man shovels dirt with the help of a Moses Lake Fire Department firefighter to douse a fire that broke out in an encampment of homeless people Tuesday morning at around 8:30 a.m. in a large field of reeds and trees near E. Wheeler Road and S.R. 17. Units from Grant County Fire District 5 as well as MLFD firefighters responded, and the fire was doused quickly. It is not known if anyone was injured.
