Ephrata track and field comes out on top at Connell

CONNELL — The Ephrata and Quincy High School track and field teams competed at the Connell Invitational on Friday.

Ephrata came out on top in both the girls and boys teams scores by over 20 points. Quincy came in at third place for the boys and seventh for the girls.

Boys top 10 by school:

Ephrata High School -

• Junior Joshua Green took first place in the 100-meter dash and the 400-meter dash.

• Junior Hunter Handy placed seventh in the 100-meter dash.

• Freshman Daniel Villa placed fifth in the 200-meter dash and sixth in the 400-meter dash.

• Sophomore Hayden Roberts placed first in the 800-meter run.

• Sophomore Aiden Devine placed sixth in the 800-meter run.

• Freshman Anthony Tindal took seventh in the 1600-meter run.

• Sophomore Hayden Malone placed first in the 3200-meter run.

• Junior Travis Hendrick placed second in the 100-meter hurdles and seventh in the long jump.

• Senior Josue Sanchez took fifth in the 300-meter hurdles.

• Junior Tyler Raine placed second and fifth in the 300-meter hurdles and the 110-meter hurdles respectively.

• The Ephrata 4x100 relay team took first. The team was composed of juniors Joshua Green, Travis Hendrick, Hunter Handy and Tyler Raine.

• The Ephrata 4x400 relay team placed second. The team was composed of sophomore Hayden Roberts, senior Josue Sanchez, sophomore Aiden Devine and freshman Daniel Villa.

• Junior Weslee Kriete took first in both the shot put and discus events.

• Sophomore Jaxon Elliot placed sixth in the shot put and fourth in the discus.

• Sophomore Nic Navarre tied for sixth place in the high jump with an athlete from Zillah and another athlete from Connell.

• Senior Cole Hertz placed second in the javelin.

• Sophomore Tucker Cobb took sixth in the triple jump.

Quincy High School -

• Senior Ecduy Gordillo took fourth in the 400-meter dash.

• Sophomore Levi Kukes placed second in the 3200-meter run.

• Senior Jalen Spence took first place in both the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles.

• Senior Aidan Wallace took fifth in the discus.

• Sophomore Ethan Gregg took fourth, third and fifth place in the high jump, long jump and triple jump events respectively.

• Senior Aidan Heikes placed second in the high jump, third in the triple jump and sixth in the javelin.

Girls top 10 by school:

Ephrata High School -

• Sophomore Alessa Soto placed fourth in the 100-meter dash and third in the 200-meter dash.

• Junior Camdyn Cox took fourth in the 800-meter run.

• Sophomore Dorismar Ochoa Sanchez placed eighth in the 800-meter run.

• Junior Alexa Laughlin placed third in the 1600-meter run.

• Sophomore Maren Bair placed ninth in the 1600-meter run.

• Sophomore Eve Moore placed tenth in the 1600-meter run.

• Sophomore Kadie McMullen placed ninth in the 200-meter dash and fifth in the triple jump.

• Freshman Makaena Judkins took third in the 400-meter dash.

• Sophomore Taylor Minnick took seventh place in the 400-meter dash.

• Senior Samantha MacNeil placed first in the 100-meter hurdles and third in the 300-meter hurdles.

• Sophomore Leslie Sanchez took sixth in both the 100-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles.

• Sophomore Mckenzie Paullin placed first in the discus and second in the shot put.

• Senior Angela Adams took fourth in the shot put.

• Senior Daisy Coleman took second in the discus.

• Senior Hayden Mills placed second in the javelin.

• Senior Adrianna Redstar placed fifth in the javelin.

• Senior Jayla Sainsbury took fourth in the high jump.

• The Ephrata 4x100 meter relay team placed third. The team consisted of freshman Makaena Judkins, senior Samantha MacNeil, sophomore Alessa Soto and sophomore Kadie McMullen.

• The Ephrata 4x200 meter relay team placed first. The team consisted of freshman Makaena Judkins, senior Samantha MacNeil, sophomore Kadie McMullen and sophomore Alessa Soto.

• The Ephrata 4x400 meter relay team placed first. The team consisted of freshman Makaena Judkins, senior Adrianna Redstar, sophomore Leslie Sanchez and junior Camdyn Cox.

Quincy High School -

• Junior Jasmine Vasquez took second in the long jump, ninth in the 400-meter dash and fifth in the high jump.

• Sophomore Anel Giseth placed tenth in the long jump.

• Junior Marisol Uribe placed ninth in the 200-meter dash and tenth in the 400-meter dash.

• Sophomore Shea Heikes placed third in the 100-meter hurdles, fourth in the 300-meter hurdles, and fourth in the triple jump.

• Junior Guadalupe Valladolid placed fourth in the discus.

• The Quincy 4x100 meter relay team placed fourth. The team was made up of junior Dulce Bautista, freshman Yeslin Ramos, freshman Hazel Smedley and junior Nallely Uribe.

• The Quincy 4x200 meter relay team placed third. The team consisted of junior Marisol Uribe, sophomore Shea Heikes, junior Jasmine Vasquez and freshman Haila Caryl Knight.
