SOAP LAKE - Soap Lake Police Department recovered a stolen vehicle over the weekend and announced the return of Municipal Court fines.

On March 18, SLPD received a call from a concerned citizen who stated there appeared to be an out-of-place vehicle near the entrance to the Boy Scout camp on the west side of Soap Lake, according to a March 20 SLPD announcement.

SLPD Officer Trevor Jones responded to the scene and was able to confirm that the vehicle was stolen out of Soap Lake a couple of days prior. It was later returned to the owner

SLPD asks the public to not leave keys in unattended vehicles, such as when warming up a car, then going inside.

On March 21, SLPD announced that Municipal Court is back. This means the department is again able to issue municipal code fines.

According to the announcement, community members will see SLPD staff out contacting people regarding about 1.5 years of backlogged complaints to see if they have since been resolved. Some of the biggest issues residents may want to address, according to the announcement, include trash on property, abandoned hulk vehicles and wrong-way parking.
