Basin athletes shine at WindBreaker Invitational

WAHLUKE - Wahluke was the home to the WindBreaker track and field invitational over the weekend where several Columbia Basin schools participated and took home top five finishes over the weekend.

Moses Lake High School, Quincy High School, Wahluke High School, Royal High School, Othello High School and Moses Lake Christian Academy/Covenant Christian School all participated in the event.

Moses Lake took first place in both the mens and womens teams scores. Quincy took 10th in the womens and 5th in the mens while Wahluke placed 8th in the womens and 10th in the mens. Royal took 9th in the womens and 15th in the mens and the Moses Lake Christian Academy/Covenant Christian School teams placed 14th in the womens. Othello took 17th in the womens.

The following are the Columbia Basin top 5 finishers for each category for the young men and women athletes.

Men:

100 Meters - Quincy senior Jalen Spence took 4th.

200 Meters - Quincy sophomore Jayden Richards took 2nd and Moses Lake junior Jake Goude took 4th.

800 Meters - Moses Lake junior Ethan LaBonte took 1st.

1600 Meters - Moses Lake junior Ethan LaBonte took 1st.

3200 Meters - Wahluke sophomore Angel Vazquez-Jimenez placed 2nd and Moses Lake junior Samuel Elliott took 3rd.

110m Hurdles - Quincy senior Jalen Spence took 2nd and Moses Lake senior Solomon Green placed 3rd.

300m Hurdles - Moses Lake senior Solomon Green placed 5th.

4x400 Relay - Moses Lake placed 5th.

Shot Put - Moses Lake senior Marcus Duvall placed 2nd and Quincy senior Reid Thomsen took 3rd.

Discus - Moses Lake senior Zackary Reyer took 1st, Moses Lake junior Tell Rathbun took 2nd, Quincy senior Reid Thomsen took 3rd and Moses Lake senior Marcus Duvall placed 5th.

Javelin - Royal senior Clinton Garnick took 4th and Moses Lake senior Marcus Duvall placed 5th.

High Jump - Moses Lake senior Ethaniel De La Torre tied for 1st place with Kittitas junior Owen Stickney. Moses Leka sophomore Blazer Luiten finished in a three way tie for 3rd place.

Pole Vault - Quincy senior Aidan Heikes tied for 1st pace with Toppenish senior Angelo Ferolito.

Triple Jump - Quincy senior Aidan Heikes placed 3rd and Quincy sophomore Ethan Gregg placed 4th.

Women:

200 Meters - Royal junior Ivy Delay placed 2nd.

400 Meters - Moses Lake freshman Kaiya Char placed first.

800 Meters - Moses Lake junior Marissa Bischoff took 5th.

1600 Meters - Moses Lake sophomore Sylvie Gephart took 1st and Moses Lake sophomore Paige Perkins took 2nd.

3200 Meters - Moses Lake junior Camryn Holterhoff placed 1st, Moses Lake freshman Rianne Nelson took 2nd and Wahluke junior Adamaris Arellano placed 5th.

100m Hurdles - Moses Lake junior Sydney Macdonald placed 1st, Quincy junior Joceline Schaapman placed 3rd and Moses Lake freshman Ingrid De La Rosa placed 4th.

300m Hurdles - Moses Lake junior Sydney Macdonald took 1st place, Moses Lake freshman Ingrid De La Rosa took 2nd and Royal junior Ivy Delay took 4th.

4x100 Relay - Moses Lake took 3rd.

4x400 Relay - Moses Lake took 3rd and Wahluke placed 5th.

Shot Put - MLCA/CCS junior McKenna Meise placed 4th.

Discus - Quincy sophomore Kallie Kooistra took 2nd, MLCA/CCS junior McKenna Meise took 4th and Moses Lake junior Katheryn Pugh took 5th.

Javelin - Wahluke junior Daisy Barajas placed 3rd and Moses Lake junior Katheryn Pugh took 5th.

High Jump - Moses Lake junior Sydney Macdonald tied with River View freshman Aliyah Malone for 1st.

Triple Jump - Moses Lake senior Ebubechi Abonyi placed 2nd and Moses Lake junior Sydney Macdonald placed 3rd.
