Quincy takes Kiona Benton 11-0
QUINCY - Over the weekend, the Basin was exploding with spring sports. Those sports included team sports such as baseball, softball and soccer or individual sports like track and field, tennis and golf.
Among those teams were the Quincy boys soccer team which is 3-1 overall after notching their win against Kiona Benton City High School over the weekend, 11-0.
Quincy Head Coach Francisco Tafoya said his team has a better team dynamic than the previous season so he is excited to see how the team does this year, especially since this will be the first full season with an opportunity to go to state since the spring 2019 season.
“These boys have been playing together from an early age, the team chemistry is there,” said Tafoya.
They take on their first league opponent, Cashmere, on March 22 at Cashmere. Tafoya said his team is anxious to play Cashmere because it was their only league loss last season, which also cost them the league title.
He also noted that he feels like the teams in the Caribou Trail League are pretty evenly matched this season so he is trying to make sure his team doesn’t underestimate their opponents.
Tafoya said their team goals this season include earning the league title, and seeing how they match up against other regional opponents since they have not had that opportunity in the last two seasons.
