Mitchell promoted to Tigers head football coach
EPHRATA - Ephrata School District is pleased to announce Patrick Mitchell has been named the new head coach of Ephrata High School’s varsity football program.
“Coach Mitchell is a positive teacher and coach in our school,” said Ephrata High School Athletic Director Bryan Johnson. “He has been a strong defensive coordinator for our varsity team the past two years. I believe he’s ready to be a successful head football coach and will take Tiger football to the next level.”
Mitchell served as the defensive coordinator for the EHS Tigers during the past two seasons. Prior, he was an assistant football coach and offensive coordinator for Jenkins High School in Chewelah, Wash. from 2010-2014. He also served as an assistant coach for the Division 1A Royal High School football team from 2014-2018.
Mitchell was selected from a pool of several candidates. The selection committee sought a leader with a proven track record that had a solid background in coaching football and building relationships with students, according to an ESD press release.
Mitchell is a graduate of Tonasket High School. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Whitworth University in 2007 and his education certificate from Eastern Washington University in 2010. An educator for 12 years, Mitchell is currently in his fourth year teaching history at Ephrata High School. He is also the head coach for the Tigers wrestling program.
“I'm very excited and grateful for the opportunity to be the head football coach at EHS. It has been a goal and a dream of mine to be a head football coach and I can’t imagine a better community for that goal to come to fruition in, than Ephrata,” Mitchell said.
“Football has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember,” said Mitchell. “I’m excited to bring with me the perspective of coaching in multiple successful programs and incorporating those elements at Ephrata. I am ready for this challenge and cannot wait to mold future athletes coming through our program.”
