Royal City man arrested for vehicle theft
RITZVILLE — A Royal City man was booked into the Adams County Jail for suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle after he attempted to flee from Adams County Sheriff’s deputies.
Carlos A. Cera, 27, was arrested March 10 and was booked on suspicion of attempting to elude a police vehicle and two counts of third-degree driving with a suspended license. He also was booked on three outstanding Adams County misdemeanor warrants, one Grant County misdemeanor warrant and one Franklin County misdemeanor warrant, according to an ACSO statement.
Deputies initially attempted to stop a truck March 4 for a possible DUI charge, but the driver refused to stop, the statement said. The driver took the car into an orchard, then abandoned it and fled on foot.
The owner of the truck reported it stolen while ACSO and Grant County sheriff’s deputies were investigating the incident. A passenger in the truck, Jesus Partida-Hernandez, 25, Othello, was taken into custody on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle.
Subsequent investigation identified Cera as the driver of the car, the statement said, and deputies found him driving a different vehicle on March 10. He fled on foot when deputies attempted to talk to him, and was apprehended after a short foot pursuit.
