4 injured in accident north of Othello
OTHELLO — Four people were injured in a three-car accident at the intersection of S.R.17 and Hermann Road late Sunday that left the main road between Othello and Moses Lake blocked for more than an hour, according to the Washington State Patrol.
According to the report, Evangenlina Suarez, 35, of Othello, was driving in a 2016 Jeep Wrangler south on S.R. 17 around 7:45 p.m. Sunday and stopped to make a left turn onto Hermann Road when she was rear-ended by a red 2014 Subaru driven by Myra Walter, 74, also of Othello.
Walter’s vehicle spun and came to rest on the southbound shoulder of S.R.17, where it was then struck from behind by a 2022 Toyota Corolla driven by an unnamed, 16-year-old driver from Moses Lake.
The driver of the third vehicle, which also came to a stop on the southbound shoulder of S.R.17, was not named in the report because he is a minor, the WSP press release said.
Suarez’s Wrangler spun and ended up blocking the north lane of traffic on S.R. 17, according to the WSP report.
According to WSP spokesperson John Bryant, S.R.17 was blocked in both directions for at least an hour, and accident investigators were on scene until roughly 10 p.m.
All accident victims were taken to Othello Community Hospital and were treated and released. Walter was cited for driving too fast for the conditions, according to the WSP.
