WSP seeks witnesses to Mattawa hit and run
GRANT COUNTY — The Washington State Patrol is seeking witnesses or anyone who might have information about a hit and run accident south of Mattawa early Wednesday.
According to a WSP press release, patrol officers responded to a hit and run accident on State Route 243 and Columbia Boulevard near Desert Aire at approximately 3:49 a.m. Wednesday. An older model silver Chevrolet Cavalier traveling southbound on SR 243 allegedly struck a 14-year-old boy, then left the scene, continuing southbound, the press release said.
The vehicle sustained damage to the front and the passenger side mirror, the WSP press release said, and the victim was transported to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland with severe injuries.
