Nolen Gene Merkley

| June 29, 2022 9:47 AM

September 18, 1943 — June 26, 2022

Nolen Gene Merkley, 78, of Moses Lake, Washington, took his last flight on June 26, 2022.

Nolen was born Sept. 18, 1943, in California to Gene and Opal Merkley. Nolen attended school in Moses Lake. He served a short time in the military. Most will remember him as their favorite mechanic as he owned Merkley's Mobile Maintenance for over 40 years; during those years he met friends, many of whom became like family to him. Lately he was known as the gentleman in the little red scooter cruising the town. Nolen enjoyed flying and took great joy in the times when he actually got to be your pilot. If he was not working you could usually find him on the range or somewhere tinkering with one of his guns.

Nolen is preceded in death by both parents, his younger sister and wife Pamela. He is survived by his son Cale (Sharon) Merkely of Spokane, daughter Kara Caldwell of Cheney, Pam's children Cheryl (Jason Randall) Lalk and Kevin Lalk, six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews as well as many friends.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. (viewing will be at 9 am) on July 9 at the Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Rose Street Chapel. Graveside service will follow.
