Jean Olson Ames

Jean Olson Ames passed away peacefully on June 15, 2022, at the age of 96.

Jean was the first child of Wesley A. Olson and Ethel Johnson, and graduated from Wapato High School. On Sept. 15, 1946 she married Eugene Ames.

Jean worked several jobs, including as a clerk at Yakima Courthouse and at the Pronto Pacific potato plant. In her retirement, Jean was a 4-H leader and active with her local Sons of Norway lodge. She was an avid gardener, hosted family get-togethers regularly, and her homemade jam was the best you ever tasted.

Jean is preceded in death by her husband Gene, son Rick and brother Delmar Olson. She is survived by her children Sharon (Dick) Douglas, Jeff (Jana) Ames, Randy (Ina) Ames, her late son Rick's widow Ruthie, eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

There will be a viewing and memorial service on Thursday the 30th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Kayser's Chapel of Memories with graveside service to follow at 2 p.m. at Pioneer Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity.
